FORMER ISREALI PM PASSES ON
HE fought in all of Israel’s wars since the state’s founding in 1948 and earned a reputation as a brave soldier and remarkable strategist, but yesterday, the former Prime Minister of Israel, Ariel Sharon, surrendered to the Mother of all battles. He was aged 85.
The hospital that had been treating Sharon said the Israeli war veteran died peacefully with his family by his side.
Dr Shlomo Noy of the Sheba Medical Centre near Tel Aviv said he died yesterday afternoon of a heart failure.
